What Is Affirmative Prayer?

Affirmative prayer is the highest form of creative thought. It involves releasing counterproductive, negative thoughts and affirming that God is present in every circumstance. Affirmative prayer reflects the certainty that we are each being led and guided to our highest good despite any temporary appearances.

We do not pray to change God; we pray to change ourselves by connecting with God and allowing God to be expressed through us. We pray to realize the highest truth we can comprehend at that moment.

Meditation

Meditation is vital to every Sunday service, and other meditation opportunities are offered throughout the week. In Unity, meditation is a practice of resting our minds, remembering our divine source, and reconnecting to the divine within us.

Prayer Chaplain Program

The Prayer Chaplain Program is one of the most influential and personal ways Unity of the Keys serves the spiritual needs of its congregants. Our prayer chaplains provide congregants with confidential, one-on-one, affirmative prayer after Sunday services and make prayer support connections with members. Prayer chaplains are trained, deeply committed to prayer practices, and dedicated to practicing Unity principles. They are not ordained nor minister to or counsel the community at large, as do ministers or hospital chaplains. Prayer Chaplains make a one-year commitment to fulfilling their duties.

Prayer Chaplains:

  • Create and hold sacred space with you during prayer.
  • Listen to your prayer requests with love and empathy.
  • Pray from the heart.
  • Honor the sacred trust that is created when praying with another.
  • Hold all that is shared in the strictest confidence.
  • Support others on their spiritual journey.

Are you interested in becoming a prayer chaplain? Serving as a volunteer prayer chaplain involves a deep commitment, an openness to create heart connections with others, and a willingness to experience personal and spiritual growth and transformation. Completing the training and serving as a prayer chaplain is transformational work. We invite you to consider whether becoming a prayer chaplain is yours to do.

Silent Unity and Prayer Requests

For more than 130 years, affirmative prayer has been critical to the Unity mission. The Unity Prayer Ministry (Silent Unity®), prays with people of all faiths around the globe each year. Your prayer request is a sacred honor and trust. All prayer requests are kept private and confidential.

You can make a prayer request online or speak with a prayer associate by phone. There is never a charge for prayer.
