The Body Mythology of the Breastless

An International Flat Day Workshop and Gathering

with Katharine Doughty

Saturday, October 7th from 10 am to 12 noon

The workshop is for those with, considering or preparing for:

  • uni or bilateral mastectomy to flat due to cancer diagnosis or prophylactic measure.
  • mastectomy or breast reduction for any reason.
  • breast reconstruction or augmentation due to need/want of breasts or larger breasts.
  • removal of implant/augmentation-aka “explant” for any reason.
  • and smaller-breasted women who identify, embrace, and/or are challenged by being “flat” and anyone connecting personally to the theme of breastlessness.

International Flat Day is dedicated to supporting Aesthetic Flat Closure aka “going flat” after mastectomy as an equal option to reconstruction. This workshop and gathering invite several communities to come together through sharing our experiences, challenges, and joys in creative ways. Other events throughout the day and weekend are open to partners, family, friends, and the community. No prior arts or movement experience is needed. All ages abilities, and backgrounds adults 18+, We will use writing, drawing, natural movement, and creative dialogue to find and share our personal mythology.

30-80$ sliding scale, no one turned away. All materials provided. Wear comfortable clothing. There will be a topless option for parts of the workshop. No photography or recording is permitted. This work is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health services or treatment.
